How much do the different types of swords weight?

My friend and I are making a zombie survival guide (because we need a plan) and he says he is taking two swords, which I say are too heavy. How much does each type of sword weigh on average? (Rapier, katana, Bastard, longsword, etc)

A well made sword is lighter than many people think, Most are in the 2 to 3 1/2 lb range.

I wouldn’t expect a rapier to be very effective against zombies, since they work by causing internal bleeding. I’m saying this despite the fact that rapiers are my favorite swords. Better go for a cutter! What you want is the Cold Steel Grosse Messer,
