All my ICONS of my desktop and start menu are a different picture and is LNK HELP!?

I have a Windows 7 computer and i tried to open a photo with paint, but it told me its only for LNK files, but then all my icons, like google chrome everything became to a different icon picture, it became to the logo of Paint. And all of my .EXE programs became .LNK, can ya’ll understand? Umm I really need help!

That’s a bug. It happened to me too… a few months ago with a new Windows 7 machine.

How it got corrupted is anyone’s guess, but there are a couple of free programs available which can restore the correct associations and fix the problem.
