Legal pocket knife blade limit in Santa Clara County, California?

I have a spring assisted folding knife. It is 13 inches overall (6 inch blade), stiletto style with a bayonet blade. Yes, very intimidating looking. I know San Francisco, San Mateo and other counties have a 3″ blade limit, but I cannot find a legal blade limit for pocket knives in Santa Clara County. Is it legal for me to carry this knife in my pocket (concealed) in public in Santa Clara County?

Well, what you think you know is wrong. Neither San Francisco nor San Mateo prohibits possession of a knife of any kind. Both counties have ordinances making it illegal to LOITER while in possession of knife with a blade longer than 3″. Loitering in California means remaining in a place with the intent to commit a crime as the opportunity arises. No loitering, no knife offense.

That said, I can find no Santa Clara County regulation concerning knives, though it does have its own rules about loitering, but remember each city can enact its own laws as well. State law does not generally prohibit the concealed carrying of a folded knife which is not a switchblade, though it would be illegal in some places (school grounds, government buildings, etc.).
