Is a Boker Magnum Giant Bowie made of 440C steel?

I recently ordered a knife from the following website. The website says that the knife is made of 440 stainless steel, but i know there are 3 types of 440 steel. Does anyone know what type of 440 is this knife?

Mr Gregg Andrews, i would like to ask you for your opinion in what you think this knife would be good for considering its price.

Being as cheap as it is (~$32)

It stands a good chance of being made from 440A, or 440B.

Either that, or it’s 440C and very poorly heat treated… but then again, I don’t know why they would do that… it’s happened before though.

By the way, Stainless steels of any kind (excepting the very few, very obscure, very expensive “space age” alloys), are just bad choices for hard use knives. Either they’re too soft and they bend, or they crack. Hell, even properly heat treated 440C is susceptible to cracking, much more so than O1 or W1/W2.

Plain High Carbon steels for big knives…
Stainless for little knives…

BTW, good stainless = expensive. It’s a b*tch to heat-treat stainless. Go ahead, ask me how I learned that lesson…
