Why did Cedar Point get rid of the Demon Drop?

I just found out that Cedar Point got rid of the Demon Drop and sold it to a theme park in California. Why did they do that? Couldn’t they have built their own if they wanted one?

Well, they didn’t sell it to a different park. The park that is getting it is Knott’s Berry Farm, which belongs to the same company as Cedar Point (the company is named Cedar Fair). They kind of did a little ride trade (Demon Drop will be replacing Knott’s Berry Farm’s “Screamin’ Swing” ride). Knott’s Berry is also in need of a new ride (..well, let’s say a new addition, since this ride is actually pretty old), so this is a cheap way for Cedar Fair to add a new attraction to Knott’s. Fact is, it’s been at Cedar Point for a loonng time…think of it this way, with the space open, Cedar Point has room for a new ride for the coming years
“Couldn’t they have built their own if they wanted one?” – it’s cheaper for the same company to move a ride from one park to another then to build a new one.
