Do the Dynasty Warriors Empires games only use Empire Mode or do they retain the original campaigns?

I’m looking into buying a Dynasty Warriors game, and the Empires games look cool because I like strategy. But do these games only use this new strategic gameplay, or does it still include the original game features too?

Also, which should I get? Which Empires game is the best individual game?

a blend of both. empire mode means control a territory by battling the people there but it’s just like any other Dynasty Warriors game. You can use money to buy tactics or bribe people,etc. I would prefer probably DWE5 because 3 & 4 are pretty outdated and 6 is a lot more complex plus you can create even better custom characters.
