sword blade edge help?

Im making a ninja-to with a steel bar i got from home depot. about 1/8 inch thick,1 1/4 in wide and about 2 ft long including the handle area. i sharpened it and its really sharp but i still cant cuz anything. the blades edge is only about 1/8 inch too but ive seen swords that have edge that almost go all the way to the middle of the blade or further? can you help me figure out whats best for my blade to cut/stab(mainly cut) thanks
but the accusharp gives a really small edge angle
i mean shape of angle? if it has a specific name even better. all i have to shape is a bench grinder witha couple different wheels,files,and this accusharp kind of instant sharp angel.
and im not worried wiht how long it will last(the edge)
