Does a Guinea Pig prefer flat ground?

Someone told me that I shouldnt buy my Guinea Pigs a ball because they dont like it and only like flat ground. Is this true?

The person who told you that is 100% correct. A guinea pig can damage its spine if it uses a ball. As ground dwellers, guinea pigs don’t have a flexible spine like climbing rodents such as rats and hamsters that can use balls and wheels. So, it isn’t a question of like but rather what is safe for them. And they are smart enough about what is good for them that most won’t use one.

Unfortunately, pet supply companies make and pet shops sell all sorts of trash that is not good for guinea pigs. They are simply interested in money and not your pet’s welfare
