Could the likes of Torres, Messi or Ronaldo outwit a ‘Norman Hunter’ in his prime?

if they could, what about a young Bobby Moore in HIS prime ?

reckon Bobby would have put all three of them in his pocket ? After all this is the Englishman who pulled of the tackle of the millenia against a certain Mr.Pele was he not ?

Lee Dixon was quoted yesterday – in relation to Patrick Vieira returning to the EPL – as saying “I know myself that since I finished back in 2002 the game is twice as fast and ridiculously different to when I played”.
It would be safe to assume, however, that if someone as naturally talented as Bobby Moore was a modern player, subject to all today’s fitness and training regimes he would still have been a top world player. Apart from his memorable Pele pick-pocketing tackle, he had superb vision – as in foreseeing threats and distribution, keeping cool under fire, etc.
As a regular at Upton Park in the mid-60s I watched Bobby Moore many, many times and whilst the likes of Ronaldo, Torres and Messi have electrifying acceleration Bobby would have been well able to ‘read’ and cope with such challenges.
I’m not sure I could say the same of old ‘Bite yer legs’ Hunter, whose tendency to up-end players would be frowned upon nowadays. But I might be doing him a disservice – apart the ‘truly great’ it’s difficult to compare players from quite different eras.
