Hunting Knife

Suggestions on a good hunting knife?

I am getting in to hunting and I need a good knife. I know the Buck 119 is a great knife but I want a top quality knife. I prefer the traditional style. Price limit is $120
(Traditional meaning bone or wood handles)

How would you expect to beat the quality of a Buck Knife? I believe they have a lifetime warranty.

The next step up would be a Case sheath knife. Fine. But after that, then you get into so-called “custom knives”. Believe me when I say that those custom knives that are often made in someone’s shed in back of their house NOT be as high a quality as a Buck or Case. Why? Because Buck and Case have been making knives for decades. They have metallurgists and engineers on their payroll. They know what goes into making a good knive and how to propery heat treat the blades and so forth.

While I also own a Buck 119, I actually prefer a smaller knife for hunting. Unless I am going to be fighting grizzly bears with my knife, a smaller size Buck works best for field dressing most big game animals. Go with the Buck 105 – it’s a smaller knife than the over-sized 119 and is easier to handle.
