What new energy sources do you think will come from quantum physics?

I am sure were on the brink of discovering something, and finding new exotic states of matter that will launch us into a new era.

Then all the wind turbines, and power plants littering the land will be about as useful as animal powered turbines would be now.

I don’t see QM as a source of energy for a long, long time. For one, no one really understands it. Even the likes of Feynman, who knows something about it, claims to have little insight into the reality, the physics, of QM. Sure, the equations work remarkably well at predicting outcomes, but no one really understands why. Until the whys are answered, I see no chance of harnessing energy from QM.

No one, for example, can really explain how a quantum seems to borrow energy from its environment and then give it back before that environment knows it was borrowed. That’s what happens in so-called quantum tunneling where a quantum of seemingly too low energy state suddenly pops through an energy barrier it should not otherwise have been able to do. Go figure.

Or, here’s the one I like, why a wave function bearing all possible paths through a split slit experiment should collapse when its associated quantum is detected up stream from the viewing screen and cause the interference bands to disappear. And then a second detection device even further up stream from the first shows the wave function collapsing immediately even there. How the heck does that wave function further upstream know when to collapse to signify the reality path detected further down stream nearer the screen? Down stream is easy to speculate… but upstream?

No, I don’t see commercial energy coming from QM for quite some time… if ever. But, once we are able to join the micro physics of QM with the macro physics of relativity, then I can see new forms of energy coming out of that unified model. Perhaps the matter-anti matter drives of Star Trek fame will become a reality.
