Was Japan a threat to Australia during the WWI?

What did the Australians think about the Japan’s occupation of the German territories in the Pacific Ocean, and Japanese military operation in general?

I know Australia and Japan were in the Entente Powers, however, I have read a Japanese historian pointing that this Japan’s action roused anti Japanese sentiments there.

conference at Versailles
If You meant WWII , then the answer is yes. Early in the war Japan had hopes of invading Australia. After 1942 they were no longer a threat.
